JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Enrollment Management, performs a variety of tasks necessary to guide families through all aspects of the admission and recruitment process for the Lower School (grades JK-4) with a focus on strategic attraction and retention initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Work with the Admission Team to plan, coordinate, and implement admission initiatives. Manage outreach activities, including visiting feeder preschools, attending organized events and fairs, and hosting numerous campus events.
  • Coordinate admission process for applicants. Follow up with prospective families, interview applicant families, oversee admission testing, arrange family visits and tours, and communicate final admission decisions.
  • Chair admission committees. Prepare application materials for committee review, train committee members, and lead decision meetings.
  • Build strong relationships and collaborate with the Head of Lower School, faculty, Student Support Services, and other key internal constituents and stakeholders on admission information, planning, and execution.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee parent, student, and faculty volunteers for campus tours, admission events, and activities, including admission testing.
  • Effectively utilize the school database system, Veracross, for prospective family relationship management, process organization, and maintenance of online applications and electronic files. Create custom reports with the School database.
  • Work directly with the Marketing and Communication Office on strategic marketing planning and execution.
  • Be an active, visible, and engaged member of the Lower School community, supporting the work of the Division, including but not limited to onboarding of new students, attending faculty meetings and community events, and observing and partnering with faculty in classrooms to immerse in the Lower School program.
  • Participate in School and Independent Schools of St. Louis (ISSL) committee work to support school initiatives at MICDS and the larger St. Louis community.
  • Compile, research, and report admission data and demographic statistics using Veracross and other external resources.
  • Support other members of the Admission Team as needed with recruitment and admission efforts across the school.
  • Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the School’s discretion.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Knowledge of early childhood educational development
  • Experience working with children ages 3-10
  • A passion for and an understanding of the work and culture of independent schools, with prior experience in elementary school required and enrollment/admissions experience preferred
  • Collaborative approach to work, with an ability to partner warmly and energetically with staff colleagues, prospective students and parents, and faculty peers
  • Commitment to working in an environment that embraces a diverse community of students, educators, parents, and alums
  • Ability to thrive in a highly competitive market environment through creative and innovative strategies
  • High level of interpersonal skills with strategies for maintaining balance while managing multiple demands on a regular basis
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Proficiency and acuity with learning a variety of software applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, customer relationship management (CRM) programs, databases, presentation software, and email
  • Strong background, experience, and interest in marketing and sales preferred
  • Ability to attend closely to detail and compose and proof materials accurately
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and phone etiquette
  • Ability to work extra hours when needed, including some evenings and weekends
  • Joy in working with children and parents of young children

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Successful completion of a criminal history and background check is required.
  • The position requires work in standard office conditions and climate.
  • The position may require work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
  • The position may require work in varied extreme outside weather conditions during special activities and admission events.
  • The position may require light physical activity. Work may involve occasional assistance of others in the manipulation of heavy objects and some standing or walking for extended periods of time.
