JOB SUMMARY
MICDS is seeking a Sports Information Specialist to begin work in the 2025-2026 academic year. The ideal candidate should have experience in athletics and be comfortable focusing on content creation, data management, and media relations. This role will oversee managing the Athletic Department’s website, collecting and reporting statistics, as well as handle other administrative tasks. The Sports Information Specialist will report to our Athletic Director and will work closely with other Athletic Department staff as well as the Marketing and Communications Department staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage MICDS Athletics website, including schedules, scores reporting, rosters, statistics, and player profiles.
- Promotes athletic stories, including profiles, to local media.
- Manages preservation of and updates to the MICDS Athletics Hall of Fame.
- Manages MICDS social media accounts for individual sports programs.
- Secures action photographs of all teams.
- Coordinates livestreaming of sporting events, when appropriate.
- Schedules team and senior photographs with Multimedia Specialist.
- Creates fan programs/media guides for appropriate games, matches, and meets.
- Collaborates with coaches for season summaries.
- Works with Multimedia Specialist to create end-of-season ("Rams Rewind") videos.
- Creates senior banners for all varsity sports, ensuring consistency and coverage.
- Assists with promoting summer sports camps.
- Assists with Athletic Department tasks as needed such as weight room management, event supervision, ordering awards, scheduling contests, organizing transportation, and budgeting oversight.
- Performs other related duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications and/or the Director of Athletics.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in subject matter required.
- Ability to work in an environment that embraces a diverse community of students, educators, parents, and alums.
- Experience in relevant technology skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must enjoy working and learning with children.
OTHER INFORMATION
- A criminal history and background check is required and must be successfully completed prior to employment.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- Work can be both in a traditional climate-controlled environment and in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Dexterity and precision required in the operation of a computer.
- Light physical activity. Work may involve lifting and transporting equipment across campus.
- Work environment involves minimal exposure to hazards or physical risks but requires following basic safety guidelines and rules.
- Flexibility to include some evening and weekend work.
