JOB SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Director of Grounds, the summer part-time groundskeeper performs a variety of tasks necessary to achieve a pleasant and functional outdoor campus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs grounds maintenance activities including cultivating, planting, watering, weeding and mowing.
• May assist with planting shrubs, trees, flowers, and vegetation following detailed plans and directions.
• Removes dirt, trash, and debris from assigned areas and transports same to appropriate disposal facility.
• Operates hand and power equipment such as mowers, sweepers, shovels, and small vehicles including carts.
• Ability to perform physical work requiring bending, stooping, reaching, carrying, and frequent heavy lifting, and will work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
• Perform daily duties in a safe manner.
• May help assist in the set-up of athletic field, sport camps and summer camp.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergencies.
• Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

OTHER INFORMATION

• A criminal history and background check is required and must be successfully completed.
• Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
• Work in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat.
• Be able to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.
